Responsibilities:
- Responsible for negotiating and purchasing a complex range of items including; electronic components, systems, hardware, metal, equipment, machinery, and office supplies etc from vendors; both domestic and international.
- Daily interaction with external domestic and international suppliers for procurement of goods and services. Obtain verbal and/or written quotations from suppliers when applicable.
- Accountable for placement, confirmation, and closing of purchase orders.
- Continually evaluate vendor quotes & services to determine most desirable suppliers. Conduct regular supplier reviews, audits, and run vendor improvement. Seek out opportunities to develop working relationships with new and current vendors.
- Conduct analysis to identify sourcing opportunities for cost reduction in domestic and international markets.
- Compile and analyze statistical data to determine feasibility of buying product and establish price objectives.
- Review and process requisitions in a timely manner and in accord with established procurement policy and procedures. Independently determine and develop creative solutions to problems.
- Ensure appropriate management of NTI inventory to meet sales forecasts and needs. Where possible, reduce cost of inventory. Evaluate inventory levels for products and supplies and monitor trends to determine order points and buy quantities.
- Resolve supplier performance and supply chain issues prior to any business interruption.
- Follow up on back orders, apply proper expediting techniques, and make special arrangements to ensure on-time delivery of required materials.
- Work with accounting to resolve complex discrepancies with supplier billing and handle various international payment methods. Provides expert advice to other department personnel including R&D, Sales and Production regarding purchasing processes.
- Facilitates compliance with and communication of procurement policy & procedures.
- Develop a working knowledge of the market economics, and regulatory environment that may impact pricing, supply, or supplier performance.

Qualifications:
- International purchasing and import/export requirements experience required.
- Sourcing / purchasing expert with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a technical industry.
- At least 3 years experience with purchasing electronic components, systems, and miscellaneous hardware.
- Excellent knowledge of complex procurement processes.
- Proven track record in devising and driving successful purchasing strategies.
- Must be able to get quotes with minimal info, obtain comparison quotes from competitors and present them to management in a concise manner.
- Intermediate to Expert level knowledge of Excel. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, databases, various purchasing software and the ability to efficiently type.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate persuasively and credibly. Demonstrates skill in interfacing with high level management of internal and external customers.
- Exhibits increasingly complex negotiation skills.
- Understands market conditions driven by highly competitive business environments, dynamic industries, and advancing technologies.
