Features & Applications

The KEEMUX-USBV-x USB KVM switch allows a user to control up to 32 USB-enabled computers with 1 keyboard, mouse and VGA monitor. Dedicated internal microprocessors emulate keyboard & mouse presence to each attached CPU 100% of the time so all computers boot error-free.
  • Compatible with USB-enabled PCs.
  • UNIX support includes HP J5000 and other USB-enabled UNIX computers.
  • Compatible with SUN Blade 100, 1000 & SUN Fire(tm) 280R and other USB-enabled SUN computers.
  • Compatible with all USB-enabled MAC G3 and G4's. Supports MAC soft (keyboard) power-on.
  • Supports crisp & clear 1900X1200 video resolution with no degradation.
  • Fully compliant with USB 1.1 international standards.
  • True autoboot USB switching - both PCs and MACs can be booted simultaneously.
  • Features NTI's patened true autoboot USB switching - all USB enabled computers can be booted simultaneously.
  • Cascading with other NTI KVM switches (the ability to combine USB and PS/2 legacy port switches) will handle your existing hardware and future additions to your work.
  • Optional remote control or RS232.
  • Optional On Screen Display (OSD).


Specifications

Hosts
  • Compliant with various USB hosts including:
    • PCs with USB ports and USB-enabled OS (Windows 98/2000).
    • PCs with USB-enabled BIOS (legacy USB support) and USB ports.
    • MACs with USB ports running OS 8 or later.
Keyboard
  • Female 8 pin miniDIN connectors.
  • For USB keyboard support use NTI's NEW KEEMUX-USBV-xU.
  • User devices can be PS/2, SUN or MAC.
    • SUN US/English keyboards are supported across all platforms. Non-US SUN keyboards are supported to SUN-only computers.
    • NTI recommends using SUN keyboards for multiplatform use because they have the most keys.
    • SUN startup keys are supported on SUN and USB input devices.
    • The only MAC keyboard supported is the Apple Extended keyboard.
    • MAC startup keys on all platforms of input devices are supported.

Monitor
  • Female 15 pin HD connectors.
  • Supports crisp & clear 1900x1200 video resolution with no degradation.
  • A multiscan VGA monitor is required to display the different video outputs from various platforms.
  • Bandwidth is 150 MHz.
Mouse
  • Female 8 pin miniDIN connectors.
  • For USB mouse support use NTI's NEW KEEMUX-USBU-x.
  • Compatible with all standard 2-button PS/2 mice as well as the following:
    • Microsoft IntelliMouse.
    • Microsoft Ballpoint Mouse.
    • Logitech (and other) 3-button mice.
    • Logitech 2-button Wheel Mouse.
    • Alps Glidepoint Touchpad-(extended functions - i.e. tapping, etc. - are not supported.)
    • Cirque Glidepoint Touchpad.
    • IBM Scrollpoint Mouse - extended stick functions are not supported.
    • Kensington Orbit Trackball (2-Button).
Power

  • 110 or 220 VAC at 50 or 60 Hz.

Control Methods

Buttons on Front Panel
  • Use front panel buttons to change ports & access COMMAND modes.
  • Touch a button and be connected to a CPU or change modes of operation.
  • LEDs indicate currently selected port and mode of operation.
  • Hold in any button for more than two seconds to go into Scan or Command Mode.
    • In Normal Operating Mode, the user can directly operate the selected computer with transparent presence of the NTI switch.
    • The Scan feature causes the switch to automatically and sequentially display the video from each powered on computer for 2-255 seconds.
    • Command Mode allows the user to give instructions to the switch through their keyboard. Keystrokes are not passed to the computer.
Keyboard
  • Type CONTROL + ` to go into Command Mode. ("`" is the accent mark located on the same key as the tilde "~").
  • Press ESCAPE to leave Command Mode and return to Normal Mode.
  • Scan and Command Mode are available from the keyboard.
