  • Extend Composite Video or S-Video using Low Cost Twisted Pair CAT5 BNC Extenders
Extend Composite Video or S-Video using Low Cost Twisted Pair CAT5 BNC Extenders

With a simple modification to the video input cable, the VOPEX CAT5 VGA Video Splitter/Extender can extend composite video or s-video using low cost twisted pair CAT5 BNC extenders. The modification to the video input cable allows s-video to be extended using two twisted pairs of CAT5 cable, or allows composite video to be extended using a single twisted pair of CAT5 cable. Transmitting composite video using this method triples the number of available receivers per CATx port of the VOPEX video splitter/extender at a fraction of the cost.

To modify the video input cable, take either a composite video yellow RCA cable (RRCVEXT-xx-MM), or a s-video 4-pin Mini DIN cable (SVEXT-xx-MM), and wire one end to a female 15HD solder cup connector (15HDF-SLDR) using the following wiring diagram. Use this cable to connect the video source to the video input of the VOPEX CAT5 VGA Video Splitter/Extender. To extend the signal, connect one end of a CAT5 patch cable terminated with a RJ45 connector to the desired CAT5 video output port, and connect the corresponding unterminated twisted pair wires to the BALUN-STBNC remote unit.

  • "We needed to place the CPU in the ICS closet and run 200 feet to the ST-C5VA-L-600 unit where the local output went to a local monitor at the nurse station and the Ethernet connection went to the ST-C5VA-R-600 remote unit in a data closet 50 feet away. From there, the remote unit connected into the VOPEX-C5VA-4C Splitter/Extender input which then split off to 4 remote nurses stations another 200 feet away. The VOPEX-C5VA-4C, ST-C5VA-600, and ST-C5VA-R-600'S worked VERY well for our application."

  • "I first used your VOPEX® VGA Splitter/Extenders to push video content to our five doctors' lounges in one hospital. The hospital liked it, and now we have used your products for 4 different projects. Now 3 hospitals are using NTI.

I just got word that our CIO liked my solution to distribute VGA video across our hospital. Now he wants to know how I did it. Our CIO wants to use our hospital solution for our entire division, 13 hospitals. Who knows, once the company sees what we have done they might decide to standardize for all our divisions (over 300 hospitals)."

  • "We own a commodity brokerage company. Historically, we have had a "quote monitor" on everyone's desktop with a price feed. In our old, smallish office, we ran miles of VGA cable into and out of splitter boxes... We moved last week into a new space that was built out for us - fancy stuff, like internet/Cat-5 wiring in the walls. We were not interested in recreating the VGA cable mess, so we were looking for solutions that delivered the data to several different locations conveniently and cost-effectively. Our IT service found the NTI thing online and we thought we would give it a go. So, today, we are operational in our new office with 10 flat screen televisions/monitors mounted all over the place, with Cat-5 coming out of the wall into the NTI boxes and a VGA cable going into the monitors. No flicker. Signal is clear. No cables running across the floor."

  • "Recently we purchased the "CAT5 VGA VIDEO 4 PORT SPLITTER plus 4 REMOTE RECEIVERS". Our rep at NTI was very knowledgeable on all of the products, and helped guide us to the correct solution for our project. Shipping was extremely fast. The splitter was very easy to set up. The quality exceeded our expectations. The sound and picture quality were perfect.

Thanks to NTI for getting us the right product, the fast shipping, and the easy setup, our project was completed days before we planned on. I look forward to purchasing more products from NTI."

  • "We are a church in Pittsburgh with a small 29-computer network. I asked an associate in the Church Business Administrator organization for a recommendation on what company to deal with for VGA splitters and remotes. He recommended NTI.

My experience was nothing short of amazing. I browsed the NTI website, and found some products that looked appropriate. When I called to talk with a CSR, I was greeted by Kristie. She led me through the decision process to identify what I needed. She then offered to send me a quote. (This was late Friday.) Her quote was waiting for me when I got back on Monday afternoon. I called her back on Tuesday afternoon and placed the order. The box was on my desk this morning (Wednesday) at 9:30!! Wow!

BUT, and this is the part that made me walk around the office and share with my co-workers, there was a hand written envelope on top of the products with a nicely composed thank you note. I'm very impressed by the attitude conveyed by Kristie and as actually demonstrated. I hope I have reason to do business with you again."

  • "In a manufacturing environment, we are always looking to move displays around for operator convenience. We were using another brand of VGA to Cat 5 extender and always had a problem with the remote monitor picture blinking on and off. When I called for technical support, I could never get a satisfying answer. A few years ago I had tried an NTI VOPEX-C5V-4 Splitter/Extender on another process that is similar and thought maybe it would work here also. I called Tammy to order what I had used before and expressed my dissatisfaction with the other brand. I needed assurance that this system would work right away. She said if there was a problem that NTI would make it work. The units showed up a few days later and I gave them to my electrician to install. I never heard back from them. So I went out to check for myself if they were working. The operator was there so I asked her if the monitors were working and she said the electrician came by a few days ago, put in a new box and they have not had a problem since. Thank you NTI for your good equipment and sales person (Tammy, who really knows her stuff!!)"

  • "We were using an outdated system of VGA to TV converters for our information marquee kiosks. The resolution was low and the picture quality was poor. We had problems sending the signal long distances in our large campuses. I contacted NTI, and they put me on the phone with a sales engineer who designed a system using VGA over Cat5e cabling to feed our new LCD monitors. It works so well; it is now the standard for our entire University, over 200 campuses and learning centers. It looks gorgeous, and we can send a signal 200 yards over inexpensive Cat5e cabling. It is a great infrastructure for our upcoming technology that is going to give us up-to-the minute information automatically. This will be great technology built on a foundation of great technology. NTI made the marquees look good, and they made me look good. I couldn't ask for more."

  • "We received the VOPEX-C5VA-4 and ST-C5VA-R-600 from NTI and attached them to our CERES-86 and a 37 inch LCD. The units worked just great and the sound was excellent. We ordered another three of the ST-C5VA-R-600 and connected them to different display units. They all worked without a problem. Since the NTI units worked so well with our Network Players, we will begin to offer them in addition to our own products whenever possible."

  • "Techorium has provided Toronto's Grand Cinemas with a video broadcasting solution using NTI's video splitters/extenders via CAT5.

After testing many other solutions on the market, the management at the cinemas were overwhelmed by the quality delivered by NTI's video solution.

NTI's video splitters/extenders via CAT5 is the only solution that can provide simultaneous broadcast to our 16 theatres at the same time while maintaining excellent video quality."

  • "We are sending audio and video signals across 600 meters in one of the largest malls in Singapore. This solution adopted fiber optic cable as its backbone, and we completed the link using NTI's VGA splitter/extender via CAT5 to connect all of the plasmas.

With the use of structured cabling technology together with NTI's VGA splitter extender, it has proven to lower end-user recurring cost tremendously."
