E-SDS or E-SDS-CE: How can I tell if my smoke detection sensor is working?
The smoke detector can be tested by using canned smoke or burning a small piece of cotton near the sensor while it is powered on.
If the sensor is functioning properly:
The sensor's LEDs should be on “Red” continuously.
To reset the sensor, wait till the smoke has dissipated and power cycle the sensor through the web interface. If the alert persists, there is still residue smoke in the sensor; wait a while before power cycling the sensor again.
Acknowledge the alert on the E-2D from testing the sensor in order to receive future alerts.
