E-LD-LCx-y: The Low-Cost Liquid Detection Rope touches metal. Is this a problem or potential problem?

The E-LD-LCx-y cannot be in contact with conductive surfaces as it does not have a non-conductive polymer mesh covering the liquid detection wires like the E-LD(S)x-y.
