IPDU-S4/8: How To Preserve the Event and Data Logs
When an IPDU-S4/8 loses power, internal memory (including Log Data) is lost.
The IPDU-S4/8 Data Log can be set to preserve itself via automatic messaging under Log > Log Settings > Data Log Settings. To send log entries, enable Syslog, SNMP, and/or E-mail Remote Logging and select which Groups will receive the preserved data logs. Data log entries will be sent out automatically when a new reading has been added to the log. Configure how often a new reading is added for each individual sensor under Sensors > Edit > Data Logging by selecting Add to data log and editing the Logging Period frequency.
Both Event and Data Logs can be preserved with the use of a USB Flash Drive. To Enable the flash drive, go to Log > Log Settings > Log To USB Flash Settings and select Enable Log to Flash drive. Logs will be automatically recorded onto the drive. The number of logs recorded will depend on the capacity of the flash drive installed. Make sure to disable Log to Flash drive by de-selecting before removing the drive or the data recorded to the drive may be lost. If power is lost to the unit while the Log to Flash drive is still enabled, the risk for data loss applies.
