SERIMUX-S-x: How to Locally Connect 2 SERIMUX Units

Up to 2 SERIMUX-S-x units can be connected together for secure access to locally access more than 32 serial devices without an Ethernet connection. The units will have limited functionality in this configuration.

In this configuration, connect a serial port from SERIMUX 1 to the Console port of SERIMUX 2. To access any serial port from SERIMUX 2, the user has to connect to the serial port of SERIMUX 1, and then access the serial port of SERIMUX 2 through its console menu.

To access either of the two connected units over Ethernet, the user has to access each unit individually using their IP addresses.

Notes:

  • The configuration settings of SERIMUX 2 would be done directly on the unit. Both SERIMUX 1 and SERIMUX 2 are essentially separate units.
  • No software updated is required for this configuration.
  • This configuration will reduce the number of available serial ports by one; i.e. if two 32 port units were connected together, the total ports available would be 63 ports, not 64.
