AURORA, OH: Network Technologies Inc (NTI) today announced the addition of the CAT5 Video Extender to their popular line of video extension products. This extender allows the user to connect a remote VGA multiscan monitor up to 1000 feet away from the host computer, using standard CAT5 patch cable. Raghav Mehta, sales engineer at NTI, explains, “This product is designed to deliver high-resolution video to remote monitors. CAT5 patch cables, used for in-house phone wiring, provide an inexpensive and convenient solution to video extension. It’s ideal for the hospital environment, where remote monitors at nursing stations are critical to patient care.”

The CAT5 Video Extender is compatible with any PC, Mac or Sun host computer. The extender is comprised of two units, the local unit and the remote unit, which are interconnected with CAT5 cable through their RJ45 connectors. Hosts are connected via the male 15 pin HD connector on the local unit. The required multiscan VGA monitor is connected via the female 15 pin HD connector on the remote unit. Both separate and composite TTL level synchronization types are supported. Video equalization control compensates for image quality loss over long cables. Equalization can be manually adjusted to obtain optimum image quality. Maximum resolution is dependant on the length of extension:

• 1280x1024/75 Hz up to 1000 feet.
• 1600x1200/75 Hz up to 600 feet.
• 1900x1200/75 Hz up to 400 feet.
  
  
  

The ST-C5V Video Extender features a compact chassis; the local and remote units each measure 8 x 6.2 x 2.6 inches (WxDxH). Rackmount cases are also available. Priced at $440, it is immediately available at www.nti1.com/cat5.html.
