KVM and USB Extenders: New Extension Options Deliver Low Cost, Convenient Control

AURORA, OH:Network Technologies Inc today announced several additions to its popular XTENDEX™ line of peripheral extension products.
  • The XTENDEX ST-C5KVM-500 KVM Extender is the affordable way to extend a keyboard, mouse and monitor up to 500 feet away from a PC or NTI KVM switch. This extender provides remote access to network servers, or may be used in situations where a control station is needed in an unsecure location or harsh environment, such as a loading dock, factory floor or construction site. Each KVM Extender consists of a local unit connected to a server, and a remote unit connected to a monitor, keyboard and mouse. The local and remote units are connected with CAT 5 cable. The ST-C5KVM-500 is compatible with most PS/2 (including wireless and internet) keyboards and mice. Extension is transparent - no keyboard/mouse features are lost. Video equalization control compensates for image quality loss over long distances. Priced at $310, the KVM Extender is immediately available.

  • The XTENDEX ST-C5V-500 VGA Video Extender extends the distance between two VGA video devices using CAT5 cable, providing remote access to information from network servers. It's perfect for applications where the monitor needs to be located remotely from the computer, and supports a local monitor as well. Priced at $225, the VGA Extender is immediately available.

  • The XTENDEX USB Extender breaks through the five-meter barrier on placement of USB peripherals! Attach up to four USB 1.0 peripheral devices (keyboards, mice, cameras, printers, scanners, etc.) and extend them up to 100 feet from the host USB computer. This extender acts as a remote USB hub, combining the plug-and-play flexibility of a USB hub and the affordable extension of unshielded UTP patch cable. It is comprised of two units, the local unit and the remote unit, which are interconnected with CAT 5 cable through their RJ45 connectors. Peripherals can be added or changed with no need to shut down and restart the computer. Data extension is transparent. Both low-speed and full-speed (12 Mbps) USB devices are supported; the extender is compatible with all USB-enabled PC, Mac and Sun computers. The USB-C5 for PCs and Sun computers is priced at $180. The USB-C5-M for Mac® computers supports Mac soft (keyboard) power-on, and is priced at $220. Both models are immediately available.
